KUCHING: The Right Honourable Premier of Sarawak today graced the prestigious event to commemorate the Mechanical Completion of Provision of Engineering, Procurement and Construction of Fixed Offshore Structure works for Timi Field Development Project for Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) by Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation (Brooke Dockyard) at Brooke Dockyard’s Demak Fabrication Yard.
The Timi Field Development contract was awarded on 13th August 2021 to Brooke Dockyard by Sarawak Shell Berhad via competitive bidding. Timi field, located at offshore, 202km north-west of Miri town, is jointly owned by Sarawak Shell Berhad, PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. and Brunei Energy Exploration.
It features SSB’s first ever wellhead platform in Malaysia that is powered by solar and wind hybrid renewable power system. This unmanned platform is 60% lighter than the conventional Tender Assisted Drilling wellhead platform. The Timi Topsides and Substructure were fabricated at both Brooke Dockyard’s Sejingkat and Demak Fabrication Yards.
The total length of the Timi Substructure is 150m, which is akin to a building of 45 floors. It is undeniably an incredible feat from Brooke Dockyard for having fabricated the substructure within a mere 9 months contractual period, with a total tonnage of 3,222 MT.
Furthermore, the Timi Substructure is the longest and heaviest Substructure that has ever been fabricated by Brooke Dockyard. This marks another achievement of Brooke Dockyard with no compromise of safety and quality.
Brooke Dockyard has clearly evolved from a marine industry player to a reputable, efficient and competitive oil & gas player with 25 years of solid experience.
To date, Brooke Dockyard has successfully completed an overall 48 oil & gas projects comprising 24 offshore modules, 4 living quarters, 19 offshore substructures, 1 subsea manifold template and 2 rejuvenation prefabrication works for various PSCs with total steel tonnage of 41,510 metric tonnes.
The Right Honourable Premier of Sarawak commended Shell for awarding the project to a local Sarawakian, namely Brooke Dockyard in recognition for its track record in delivering quality projects such as this.
This is yet another testament of Shell’s confidence in Brooke Dockyard’s achievement all these years.
